June 2013 Updates:

Big Seminar

The Big Seminar is coming to South Carolina thanks to Marc “Spud” Bartley of SpudInc. Spud is bringing my traveling circus on the road and we are pretty excited about this.

We have added another speaker to the mix, the infamous Jamie Lewis of Chaosandpain.com. If you are easily offended do not go to his website. If you have a sense of humor and like to read about training and the musings of a borderline insane mind, then I urge you to visit. Jamie is a record holding lifter in the 165’s and knows a lot about training as well as nutrition. He will bring a lot to the table, and probably eat a lot at dinner.

We have Molly Galbraith, Julia Ladewski, Vincent Dizenzo, Matt Rhodes, Dave Kirschen and Murph assembled with him in possibly the BEST group of coaches in the strength field. WE will be discussing STRENGTH. Not the pussy stuff you see at most seminars. WE will be teaching people how to get strong and fit. This seminar is not just for lifters and coaches/trainers. It is for anyone interested in being their best.

Topics will include:

  • -Training College Athletes
  • -Mental aspects of training/recovery
  • -What women really need to do in the gym
  • -Conjugate training for beginners (possibly the most bastardized and misunderstood aspect in training)
  • -The art of the bottom position in the squat (possibly worth the price of admission)
  • And much more.

The seminar will be held at the Williams Strength factory. This is where all of EliteFTS.com’s equipment is made. Most of the equipment in TPS is from them. It is the best stuff on the market and you will get to play around with everything.

The Big Seminar is being held on June 29/30, 2013 and is one day of classroom and one day of training under the bar with the best coaches around today. This is a chance for you to learn from masters of their crafts. Where else can you actually lift and be personally coached by a team of national and world champion lifters/coaches in one weekend? I will speculate nowhere else, at least not with a group of this caliber. This is like getting martial arts training form Bruce Lee. OK, maybe that’s a bold statement but it is a good example. Vincent Dizenzo is the 5 foot tall, 300 pound Bruce Lee of the bench press.

The seminar is $399.00, but the first 20 people to register will get $100.00 off. You will also get 16 ISSA continuing Education Credits if you are a trainer or coach.

Attending a seminar might seem like an expense to you but it should be looked at as an investment that will give you returns for the rest of your life. You will be a better lifter or coach or BOTH at the end of the weekend. You will have gained real world knowledge that will last you a lifetime.

For more information and to register at a $100.00 savings visit SCBB’s page here.

UPDATE: OK, it is getting close to crunch time. If you are interested in attending the Big Seminar 2 on June 29th and 30th at the Williams Strength factory (where they make all of the equipment for EliteFTS.com) and hosted by South Carolina Barbell (Spud Inc.), I suggest that you register NOW. We are going to sell out on this one and I hate to sound like the pushy sales guy with the polyester suit telling you to buy now, but you should. The presenters I have assembled are first class. The fee is worth it to hear one just of them (except Rhodes-he’s good for half)!

Seriously though, we have a panel of speakers that are world class coaches and athletes in one room for two whole days. You will get to listen to their presentation and then ask them questions. This is where all the little things in your training or your work if you are a coach, will click. I can’t tell you how much I have learned over the years by attending seminars just like I am suggesting that you do. I present at seminars now and I make it a point to listen to the other speakers because I always learn something. I have been in this business along time and if I am still learning new things, you are guaranteed to learn a lot. I mean that in the most sincere way, not in a “know it all” way at all.

Attending a seminar is one of the best investments that you can make in your training; it doesn’t matter if you are new or have been around for a while. You will learn and take things away from this that will make you a better athlete or coach.

Your presenters will be:

From Team EliteFTS.com

Matt Rhodes, Strength and Conditioning Coach at U of Albany, and AWESOME powerlifter

Vincent Dizenzo, World Record holder in the bench press in multiple weight classes and coaching expert

Julia Ladewski of Girls Gone Strong fame, professional strength coach and incredible lifter

Dave Kirschen, outstanding lifter and master of the conjugate system

C.J. Murphy, former national powerlifting champion, professional strength coach and nutritionist

ADDED BONUS:

Molly Galbraith of Girls Gone Strong, powerlifter and professional strength coach

Jamie Lewis, record holding powerlifter and write of the world’s most politically correct website Chaosandpain.com

Here is a list of what we will be covering:

Jamie Lewis: The art of the bottom position in the squat and ketogenic dieting for the lifter

Vincent Dizenzo: The Little Things-recovery, mental focus and more

Matt Rhodes: Training College Athletes

C.J. Murphy: The TPS Method-the superior training system for your clients

Julia Ladewski: From Treadmill to barbell-debunking fitness myths for women (great for men too)

Dave Kirschen: the Conjugate Method for beginners

On Sunday we will put everyone through training statins covering the bench press, the squat, the deadlift, the power clean and Turkish Get ups/metabolic circuits.

The Big Seminar 2 was recently held in Boston and got outstanding reviews. It will be accredited for 16 ISSA ceu’s for trainers as well. This seminar will sell out, so don’t wait to register.

The great guys at Williams will let us see into the inner workings of their shop and let us train on their awesome equipment.

Even better, they have arranged for a working lunch on Sunday to introduce you to the Tsunami Bar, the same bar Dave Tate has been raving about on his logs.  Learn the in's and out's of the Tsunami bar straight from the horses mouth and see just what an awesome addition it is to ANY training program.

March 2013: This is it. The Big Seminar 2 is next week! You have registered right? If you haven’t, why?

The Big Seminar 2 is ideal for those in the personal training industry. We are offering you a seminar with 16 ISSA CEU’s and a weekend of information that will set you apart from the other trainers at your gym. TPS is known for running the best continuing ed seminars in the area and this one will be AWESOME. If you are working in this industry or want to you will not regret attending.

What about those of you who are not trainers or coaches? I think it’s an even better idea. For less than the price of a few sessions with a trainer you will spend the entire weekend with some of the best coaches in the country. They will teach you, through lecture and hands on lifting, lessons that you will keep forever.

Where else will you get to learn the bench press form a multiple World Champion, or learn about how athletes train from an actual professional coach? What about all of the success you see our personal training clients making? Would you like to learn the secrets of what we do at TPS with them? You will at the Big Seminar 2. We are giving you the details here of what we do with our clients to achieve success.

We’ve got a lot more in store for you too. I think the presentations from Dave Kirschen and Molly and Julia will blow you away.

I’m not going to give you a 500 word sales pitch. Just one sentence: attending the Big Seminar 2 is the single best thing you can do to give yourself every personal and professional advantage in your fitness training this year, and it’s less than the cost of a few sessions with a trainer.

For a full lineup of the details visit our Upcoming Seminars page.

February 2013: Big Seminar 2

OK, it is getting close to crunch time. If you are interested in attending the Big Seminar 2 in March, I suggest that you register. We are going to sell out on this one and I hate to sound like the pushy sales guy with the polyester suit telling you to buy now, but you should. The presenters I have assembled are first class. The fee is worth it to hear just one of them (except Rhodes-he’s good for half)!

I just go an update on topics from Molly and Julia.
They will be giving a presentation on "Defeating the Magazine Mentality: From Treadmill to Training". The ladies will discuss how to overcome all of the bad information that women receive from the media and the guru’s on how to get strong and fit. There will be 2 segments to their presentation, each with a Q&A section at the end. I believe this will be one of the best lectures on this topic and will really open your eyes. For all of the women who train at TPS (or another gym) you should attend the Big Seminar for this lecture alone, never mind all of the others and the second day of hands on coaching.

Everyone on the list is from EliteFTS.com’s Q&A staff (except Molly-she writes for EliteFTS). EliteFTS is known throughout the industry, like TPS, for bringing you the best information available. I know each of the presenters personally and taught seminars elsewhere with them. They are the best new names in the industry that you may not have heard of yet.

We will have a biography on each presenter on the website very soon with full descriptions of what we are covering at the seminar. You can rest assured that whether you are a newbie to fitness, a veteran lifter or a seasoned coach, you will learn something at this.

This seminar will be accredited for 16 ISSA CEUs. You can also petition other agencies for credit, usually by simply filling out a form.

Attending seminars like this is one of the best investments that you can make in your fitness education whether you are a professional or someone who is dedicated to their training. Learning from experienced coaches is superior to reading and watching videos. They will coach and critique you at each station and make sure that you are leaving better than when you came in.

August 2012:

The Big Seminar 2 is starting to come together nicely. We will be running this in March of 2013 and it will feature Molly Galbraith, Dave Kirschen, Harry Selkow, Vincent DiZenzo, Julia Ladewski and Murph of TPS.

The presenters are all getting their topics lined up now and we will have an outline of them for you very soon. This is going to be AWESOME. It will be 2 days of lecture and hands-on training from some of the best coaches around today. Most of the presenters are on the Q&A staff at EliteFTS.com with me and are at the top of their games in their fields.

TPS has always strived to bring you the best coaches in the industry at our seminars, even if you have not heard of them before. A lot of them are too busy training actual clients to be writing articles for websites and magazines, although many of them do. I try to find the best up-and-coming talent or the most respected coaches in the field. When I say the “most respected,” I am referring to those respected by other top coaches. If they have peer recognition, that is always higher on the scale to me then mainstream media recognition.

Stay tuned to our website for more information as it comes out.

Kiefer update:

Sadly the Carbohydrate Back Loading Seminar with John Kiefer is postponed. Kiefer has had to take some time to focus more on his business and will not be able to travel in the near future. He has told me that he will be doing it, we are just not sure when. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information.

July 2012

We are now working on bringing back the Big Seminar and we will be calling it the Big Seminar 2! A few years ago, we brought in a crew of lifters form EliteFTS.com and we ran the biggest and baddest seminar there was. Why change things?

TPS is going to be hosting the Big Seminar 2 in March of 2013 and we will be bringing in the best new names from EliteFTS.com to teach you what the current crop of lifters and coaches are doing. We are talking about people like Harry Selkow, Julia Ladewski, Molly Galbraith, Dave Kirschen, Vincent DiZenzo and more.

This will be a two-day seminar and it will be approved for 16 ISSA CEUs. I am waiting for all the presenters’ topics now and will get them posted as soon as I receive them.

The seminar will be one day of lecture and one day of all hands-on lifting under the eye of very good coaches. I had the pleasure of watching all of these people (except Vincent) coach at the 2012 EliteFTS.com Learn to Train Seminar and that is why they were asked to come to TPS. They were all outstanding.

Stay tuned for more info.

John Kiefer of Carbohydrate Back Loading will be coming to TPS very soon to present his very first Carbohydrate Back Loading Seminar. For those of you who don’t know, Carbohydrate Back Loading (CBL) is a groundbreaking new nutritional strategy that is taking the industry by storm. Why? Because it works.

CBL allows you to get lean and strong and add muscle easily. It is also mind-numbingly simple. As soon as Kiefer locks in a date, I will get it to you. This will fill up FAST, so don’t wait to register.

June 2012

New seminar announcements

John Kiefer

John Kiefer, creator of the revolutionary nutrition program, Carbohydrate Back Loading is coming to TPS. We are tentatively scheduled for September of 2012. I will give you all of the details when Kiefer gives them to me.

If you have not heard, Carbohydrate Back Loading is taking the strength and fitness world by storm. I have been doing nutrition programs for clients for as long as I can remember, and I have never seen or used anything that works as well s this.

Kiefer is a visionary and I am drinking the Kool Aid. I have personally lost 24 pounds of fat and gained an equal amount of muscle in only 6 weeks. Yes, 6 weeks. The funny thing is that is  is easy.

I have NEVER followed a plan that gave results like this, no matter what the time frame. At almost 44 years old, if I can add this much muscle and lose this much fat, what can you do?

OK, have I peaked you interest? Buy his book before you come to the seminar.

If you know me, I do not push fad or unhealthy meal plans or jump on the band wagon for the latest trend.

This plan works.

I suggest that you register for this as soon as we announce the date. You will not be sorry.

This will be Kiefer's first seminar appearance to teach his program and he has chosen TPS to do it. We are honored to bring you the best.

Eric Haycraft

I have just been informed that we are having Eric Haycraft back to TPS for another Muay Thai seminar on July 21st and 22nd, 2012.

If you are not familiar with Eric, he is one of the country’s BEST Muay Thai coaches, and the leader of Team Haycraft. Eric was here earlier in the year and ran on outstanding seminar.

I will update you as soon as we have all the final details.

Big Seminar 2

A few years ago, TPS ran the Big Seminar. This was awesome, we had some of the industry’s best coaches and athletes in for a weekend full of awesome.

Right now, we are in the planning phases for a Big Seminar 2, which will include (as of now) Dave Kirschen, Julia Ladewski, Molly Galbraith, the compact yet brilliant Harry Selkow and more of the industry’s best up and comers. We will also have some veterans too.

I’ll get you more details as they finalize. This is slated for March 2013.

We are finishing up the details on another seminar now for October with Matt Rhodes and Vincent DiZenzo and possibly a surprise guest. We will announce this once all details are finalized.

May 2012

It has been finalized; the next EliteFTS.com Learn to Train Seminar (LTT) is scheduled for May 25th and 26th at the Elite compound in London, Ohio.

I (Murph) will be presenting at it along with Jeremy Frey, Steve Pulcinalla, Dave Tate, Josh Bryant, John Meadows and Chad Smith.

This is going to be an AWESOME weekend. I highly suggest that you get to Ohio if you can make it. LTT’s are some of the most highly rated educational seminars in the world. Where else can you spend a weekend with people of this caliber for a few hundred bucks? You will not be sitting in a huge auditorium listening to them talk. You will be in the gym listening and then getting under the bar getting world class coaching from the best names in the industry. I can promise you that there will be no balancing on rubber discs, or “functional” foolishness like at other seminars. This is the real deal.

As of now, it is almost sold out, but there are a few spots left. For more information and to register, visit EliteFTS.com

The Juggernaut seminar was, by all reports, awesome. Chad Smith did a full-day of lecture on many topics and then a full day of training. We had people from all over the USA attend and they all learned a lot, even me. As usual, Chad did an outstanding job and we thank him for coming.

TPS is trying to work out some details on a potential seminar that we think you will like, Real World Self Defense. Our instructor will be Mike Mazzio, who is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Small Circle Jiu Jitsu, and has over 35 years of experience in many martial arts. He is trained in World War 2 Combatives and is an expert in knife training, as well as Modern Arnis.

Please reply back to me if you are interested in attending this. Mr. Mazzio’s schedule is very hard to break into and we would love to have him here if there is interest. This will not be a fluff seminar. This is going to be REAL!

More seminars to come next month. Keep your eyes on the Upcoming Seminars page for full details. .
