Muay Thai kickboxing is a stand-up striking system that develops devastating power and speed, superb cardiovascular endurance, as well as an enduring fighting spirit. Sometimes referred to as "the science of eight limbs", Muay Thai incorporates the use of punches, kicks, knees and elbows, making it the toughest, most powerful ring sport in the world.

Intro classes will allow beginners to learn the ropes in both boxing and Muay Thai in a more personal atmosphere. Must attend at least two classes and no more than four classes to join the weeknight classes. Classes will be taught by Eddie Alvarez and his team of expert coaches.

I’m not in great shape, can I still take the classes?

Classes are designed to teach you this great art form in the purest sense, and it is open to all levels.  It is understood that while it will take time to achieve fighter status, there is nothing stopping anyone who wants to learn.  Through dedication and practice you will not only become fluent with the routines, you will also build the strength and conditioning necessary to perform in the process.

I’ve been told that cardio-kickboxing classes are a better work out.  Is this true?

While cardio-kickboxing has its own list of merits, the real thing is far superior for someone interested in intensive strength and conditioning.  The health benefits are impressive, including metabolic acceleration and stress reduction, discipline, a supportive group environment, practical application in the ring, self defense…and yes, the shapely fighter build that often adorns a dedicated student.

Are women welcome?

Women of all ages are always welcome.  Many women find that Muay Thai is an effective way to stay at peak performance while learning a practical fighting art.  Muay Thai is a tremendous confidence builder, offering a set of unmatched self-defense skills, and an empowering sense of self.

Will I receive pad time?

Students who demonstrate their dedication will receive exceptional time with trainers, notably pad time.

Working the pads with an instructor is one of the best ways to improve your skills short of sparring.

What if I don’t want to spar? Can I still come?

While mild contact is to be expected, sparring is optional and must be approved by the coaching staff. Sparring will never be insisted upon, unless students are ready and willing; on the contrary, sparring is reserved for dedicated students on an intermediate or advanced level.

I want to spar, can I do that too?

As stated above, sparring must be approved by the coaching staff.  As requested, the coaching staff will work to prepare willing students who wish to participate in sparring.  All athletes wishing to spar must have their own protective equipment and sign our TPS Sparring Waiver before participating.

Do you have a youth class?

We currently do not offer a Youth Muay Thai program.  If you would like to see a Youth Muay Thai program here at TPS, send us an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your contact information, the number of kids interested, their ages, and the days and times that you prefer, and we’ll determine if a class will be possible.

What kind of equipment do you have?

We have a full size professional boxing ring, a wide variety of heavy bags, Thai bags, a speed bag, double end bags, and suitcase (uppercut) bags.  You are required to have your own gloves, hand wraps, shin guards and a mouthpiece.  There are no shoes allowed in class.  All students must be barefoot.

Do you have a boxing ring and an MMA cage?

We do have a professional ring, however we do not presently have a cage.  For people interested in grappling and/or MMA, we offer wall-to-wall matting in the training room.

Can Muay Thai really improve my MMA skills?

MMA requires mastery of many attributes, including an effective striking system.  Muay Thai, as taught by our skilled coaches, will improve your stand-up striking skills and the efficiency in your delivery of knees, elbows and kicks.

Our coaches understand the needs of MMA fighters and are adept at modifying the Muay Thai techniques to make it suitable for MMA.  Although our Muay Thai classes are not MMA focused, our coaches are students of the sport and will guide you along the path to MMA success.
