Eddie Alvarez started his roots in boxing at the age of 18 at the Somerville Boxing Club. After 3 years of training and fighting, unfortunately the boxing gym would close down leaving Eddie with few options in training.
Eddie then discovered San Shou (Chinese Kickboxing) at the Chinese Kickboxing Club under the eye of Sifu Paul Rosado. Eddie continued his search for knowledge of the fighting arts and came upon the famed Sityodtong and would train there for about 2 years before returning to his roots in Boxing.
In 2007 Eddie began helping out as an assistant coach here at Total Performance Sports in both the Boxing and Kickboxing classes. He then began to train his students who ranged from Engineers to Housewives with the same format he himself trained in as a fighter. Those very same students would become top rank amateur fighters amongst New England's boxing elite by winning at the New England Tournament in Portland, Maine and the Lowell Golden Gloves Tournament along with various house shows.
Eddie’s love for boxing has driven him to break down styles and patterns from other famed trainers around world. You can catch Eddie working with his athletes on the famous Mayweather mitt style or the Gamboa mitt style on any given night. In addition to teaching proper foundation and footwork, learning Strength and Conditioning techniques under CJ Murphy and being a Certified Kettlebell Instructor under Steve Cotter has helped in making our students and fighters amongst the most conditioned athletes in New England.
